~ Africa Mission ~
Fountain Baptist Church (FBC) currently provides financial support to the following African missions:
Kenya Educational Sponsorship Program, a literacy sponsorship program
Pelonomi Children's Home, a care center for abandoned children
Carroll Shaw Memorial Center, an alcohol and drug regeneration program
Baptist Convention College, a theological seminary
PELONOMI CHILDREN's HOME COMMUNITY PROJECT
The
Pelonomi Children's Home, located in Jouberton, is headed by Pastor Jeremiah Nyembe. This home has become a lifeline for orphaned children who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, violence or were simply abandoned by their family. The children are staying in a residential home where up to 75 kids can be living at one time. Unfortunately, this home only has 4 bedrooms with many children sharing beds and sleeping on the floor. Reverend Nyembe has several staff members who ensure the children are safe and receive education while also contacting local families about adopting these children.
Reverend Nyembe has also started the Klerksdorp Girls High School which is located in downtown Jouberton. The high school consists of grades 9-12. There are eight teachers (math, English, Outcome Based Education, etc.) who provide instruction for girls who come from troubled homes or circumstances that require the care and counseling only available from this Christian High School.
CARROLL SHAW MEMORIAL CENTER
The
Carroll Shaw Memorial Center (CSMC) is a multi-faceted Alcohol and Drug Regeneration Program. It was created out of a need to provide Christian therapy to those addicted and in need of rehabilitation. It is located in Zuurebekom, South Africa.
While the aforementioned program remains a main focus of Carroll Shaw, the program has expanded to incorporate several other critical services to its service community. Additional programs are presently being offered in Skills Training, Educare, HIV/AIDS Day Care, and Home Based Care.
