~ Dance Ministry ~
Romans 12:1, Psalm 149:3 “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. . . . Let them praise His name with dancing.”

For as long as we can, we will serve the Lord and through dance - we will deliver his message. Our mission is to understand the calling to dance to glorify God and to prepare His people to receive the Word of God. We believe that the Lord will empower our dance ministry with His wisdom and His knowledge to attain His purposes.

As servant of the most high God, the focus of the Ministry of Dance is to minister the word of our Lord and Savior through movement, dance, and the fine arts. We worship, praise and celebrate the Lord through creative expression utilizing dance movement accompanied by FBC Music Ministry.

Our mission is to bring healing and deliverance to the mind, soul, and spirit; encouragement to worship and praise to God in every circumstance of life. Whether referred to as praise dance, worship dance, lyrical dance, interpretive dance, or liturgical dance, we believe our dance is a ministry in every way. In fact, the nation of Israel danced as a form of worship as demonstrated throughout the Old Testament.

SCRIPTURAL PROCLAMATIONS

Several places within the Bible refer to dance worship. The earliest mention, in the book of Exodus, occurs after the nation of Israel crossed the Red Sea, reads:

“And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.” Exodus 15:20

King David himself danced before the Lord when he brought the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem and in Psalms he honored dancing in praise of the Lord.

“And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.” 2 Samuel 6:14

“Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.” Psalm 149:3

We believe the only true requirement to be a praise dancer is a willingness to be empty of self, so that the dancer can become full of the Lord. Ability, training, talent, or gracefulness are not requisites - simply a heart that truly wishes to worship the Lord.

Dancers, like all other ministries in our worship service, seek to be led by the Holy Spirit into the glory of God. With zeal and burning desire, we express our praise and worship in dance.
